The Ministry of Social Development and Assistance (MDS) and the INSS have published a Joint Ordinance that brings important changes to the Continuous Benefit Payment (BPC) — and they represent a major advance in the social protection of the elderly and people with disabilities. 📌 What has changed in practice? ✔️ The BPC (Brazilian Social Assistance Benefit) will no longer be automatically cut off due to small variations in family income. ✔️ The benefit remains guaranteed if the income of the last month or the average of the last 12 months is up to 1/4 of the minimum wage per person. ✔️ More security for families living with unstable income. ♿ Automatic conversion to inclusion allowance If a person with a disability starts working and earns up to 2 minimum wages, the BPC will be automatically converted into an inclusion allowance, without needing to make a new request to the INSS (Brazilian National Institute of Social Security).
