This week on Café Niugini Jennifer Baing explores the fresh food market of Alotau town in beautiful Milne Bay Province. Here Jennifer collects creamed chestnuts, roasted bread fruit and smoked reef fish for a healthy breakfast. Next, Jennifer visits the coastal community of Lill-ihi village where she is treated to clay pot cooking and the sumptuous taro leaf dish known as ‘sipeni’. She is also shown the art of fish smoking and learns about nutritious tulip greens.
