The Little Girl Captain and the Floating Shops of the Mekong Delta

Hello, dear friends ❤️ The little girl captain is happy to welcome you back to another new video. Early this morning, a small wooden boat had trouble starting because its battery was dead, and it began drifting on the river. My husband quickly helped them secure the boat with a rope and connected power so they could recharge the battery and start the engine again. Soon after that, two small floating shops passed by—one selling fresh vegetables and another selling sticky rice, corn, and traditional breakfast foods. I called both boats over and bought some fresh vegetables, as well as corn and sticky rice for the workers to enjoy in the morning. Everything looked fresh and delicious. Later, I went into the kitchen to prepare our main meal: fried sea fish with tomato sauce, served with simple white rice. Meanwhile, the workers continued unloading the heavy mangrove wood from my ship and carrying it up to the charcoal kilns, just as they do every day. By the afternoon, the workers had finished and returned home. Later, I called over another small boat selling fresh fruit and bought a few more things for life on board. Along the Cai Con River, these small floating shops travel up and down the waterway throughout the day. Boats, riverside families, and people working along the river often buy their daily food and supplies directly from them. In many parts of the Mekong Delta, floating vendors are still an important part of everyday life. To me, they are also one of the most beautiful and unique traditions of rural Vietnam. Through this video, I hope to share not only the daily life of a little girl captain transporting cargo on the rivers, but also the simple beauty, kindness, and unique culture of the Vietnamese countryside.
