The Senate of the Republic addressed a declaration regarding the situation in Cuba and the impact of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States. In his remarks, Moreira emphasized that this regime is one of the longest and most systematic in history, with direct and devastating consequences for the daily lives of the Cuban people. "Despite this unique blockade that Cuba has suffered, the country has developed public policies in health, education, and international cooperation that have had a regional and global impact. And until recently, it was a country with a high level of human development, yet it has a level of poverty and critical decline that makes it almost impossible to imagine how it could have achieved that level given the difficulties it faces in the health and energy sectors." The senator also made a profound appeal to the essence of political activity in the face of destructive logic, using the Latin expression delenda est: "We are living in times of delenda est, that is, of things that must be destroyed. And here our voice as politicians, regardless of our political affiliation, must rise up against force, against destruction, and against murder; because politics is the voice of reason and persuasion against brute force." Finally, she emphasized that this stance does not stem from blind ideological adherence, but rather from a defense of the basic principles of global coexistence: rejecting the blockade means affirming that disputes between states must be resolved within the framework of international law and multilateralism, preventing people from becoming hostages to indefinite pressure tactics.
