Budapest Walking Tour | Buda Castle and Castle Hill

Welcome to a Budapest Walking Tour! In this tour, I invite you to explore the beautiful Buda Castle and the Castle Hill, two of the most iconic and picturesque destinations in Budapest. Buda, one of the two distinct halves of Budapest, is characterized by its hilly territory, historic sites, and a more residential and serene atmosphere compared to the bustling Pest side. Buda is home to iconic landmarks such as Buda Castle, Matthias Church, and the Fisherman's Bastion, which offers a breathtaking panoramic views of the city and the Danube River. I start this walking tour at the Buda Castle with a panoramic view of the Pest side, the Chain Bridge and the Danuba River. Then I go to explore the Buda Castle and its courtyards. I visit the Fountain of King Matthias, the Royal Riding Hall and attend a part of the Changing of the Guards. After that I make my way to the stunning Matthias Church and Fisherman's Bastion, both within the Castle Hill. Matthias Church, a striking Gothic masterpiece in Budapest's Castle District, boasts a colorful, diamond-patterned roof that is a distinctive hallmark of the city's skyline. Fisherman's Bastion, with its fairytale-like turrets and spectacular views, is a neo-Gothic and neo-Romanesque terrace that offers some of the most breathtaking panoramic vistas of Budapest. The seven towers, which represent the seven Magyar chieftains who founded Hungary, create an enchanting setting that seems straight out of a storybook, and the monument's name pays homage to the medieval fishermen who once protected this part of the city walls. From the Fisherman's Bastion I walk down the hill towards the Folk Art Museum. Then, I pass by the Square Reformed Church and discover the elegance of the Church of St. Anne at the Batthyany Square. I finish this Budapest walking tour at the Danube Promenade with a fantastic view of the Hungarian Parliament Building, a true symbol of Budapest's grandeur and history.
