#KiniNews: Elections can't free anyone, says Azalina; Shamsul's campaign video draws backlash

[KiniNews] Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Azalina Othman Said has stressed that elections cannot be used to secure the release of anyone serving a prison sentence. The Umno information chief was referring to former premier Najib Abdul Razak, who is imprisoned over 1MDB-related convictions. She said the power to grant a pardon rests solely with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Meanwhile, in a separate story, PKR leader Shamsul Iskandar Akin is facing backlash over a campaign video posted for the Johor state polls.
