Caring for Marilyn | The Work You Don’t See

Most mornings with Mama begin quietly: punching out her medications, making coffee, helping her take her pills, and checking on her while she rests. None of it looks dramatic. But this is what caring for someone at home is often made of: the small routines, the constant awareness, and the responsibility of making sure she is safe. This morning also meant three calls: Dr. P’s office, UnitedHealthcare, and SHIP. Three attempts to get answers. Three conversations that delivered little. The frustrating part is that the care does not pause while you wait for someone else to help. The pills still have to be given. The coffee still has to be made. The welfare checks still have to happen. This is one morning in caring for Marilyn. So it goes… If you would like to support Marilyn’s journey, you can visit our GoFundMe: Help Bring Marilyn Home https://gofund.me/159424915 Subscribe to follow Marilyn’s story and the realities of helping an older parent remain safe, independent, and at home with dignity.
