He recounted his entry into the racing department thanks to a university collaboration on vehicle dynamics and described the technical environment of the 1990s, marked by innovation and method. He recalled his first meetings with Valentino Rossi, emphasizing his light-heartedness and ability to transform himself during racing. He analyzed riders like Harada, Capirossi, and Melandri, highlighting the differences between talent, method, and human approach. He explained the technical choices behind Aprilia projects, between twin-cylinder and four-cylinder engines, and the decisive role of the organization led by Jan Witteveen. Bernardelle also discussed his long-standing relationship with Gigi Dall'Igna. The move to Honda highlighted the cultural clash between European and Japanese methods. Bernardelle emphasized the importance of the driver-engineer relationship and mutual trust.
