Call Them Athletes - A Collegiate Dance Documentary.

Directed by Torin Jade Ives and produced by Kelly Jankowski. A note from the director: Thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you for watching and sharing and spreading hope that the collegiate dance world can and will improve. We as dancers have been taught to be seen and not heard. To be grateful for the opportunity, and to never ask for more. It is long past time for that to change. This film started as a very humble college class project. After the filmmakers and I graduated, we continued to work on it and refine it into what it is today. As of now, we have been blessed with seven official film festival selections, and have won four awards. The reception of this film at those events was overwhelming in the best way possible. I was approached by countless strangers who said things like "I had no idea. It's absolutely disgusting." I was also approached by dancers, and parents of dancers, who simply thanked me for telling the story of thousands of dancers across the country. Those responses are all we hoped to accomplish in the making of this film. To make people aware of how dance teams really function, and how demanding they are. To help dancers feel heard and seen and appreciated. To implore those in power positions to listen and pay attention. We are not in this journey to profit off of the film, which is why we wanted to release on a public platform. Please feel free to share and watch over and over again.
