Music festival "Genius of the Place" in Votkinsk
Valery Gergiev and artists from the Mariinsky and Bolshoi Theatres performed in Votkinsk as part of the "Genius of the Place" festival. The dramatically impeccable opera-symphony "The Queen of Spades", directed by Alexei Stepanyuk, was presented in the birthplace of the outstanding Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky. The leading roles were performed by Dmitry Golovnin, Irina Churilova, Ekaterina Lukash, Anna Kiknadze, Vyacheslav Vasilyev, and Vladislav Kupriyanov. Valery Gergiev conducted.
