Vocalist and guitarist Firdda Kurnia, drummer Eusi Siti Aisyah and bassist Widi Rahmawati are the daughters of farmers is West Java, which is a rural, conservative part of Indonesia. They were introduced to metal music by their middle school guidance counselor, Ahba Erza. Erza taught the girls instruments and went on to become their band manager. Before Erza, the members of Voice of Baceprot didn't even know what metal was, but the genre has now become a way of life for them. "I found myself in the metal music," says Kurnia. The band has become a part of the thriving underground metal scene in Indonesia. They have gotten a lot of pushback for playing metal music and for wearing the hijab while performing. They have received phone calls asking them to stop playing their music and they get bullied quite a bit by religious conservatives in Indonesia. They have done several covers, but after doing some research, I have found that they do have their own music as well.
