January 23, 2025 marked the legalization of same-sex marriage in Thailand. Marriage equality was granted to all people, regardless of gender. Following Taiwan and Nepal, Thailand became the third country in Asia to achieve this milestone. One year after legalization, more than 26,000 same-sex couples have registered their marriages—accounting for roughly 10% of all marriage registrations.
