Hole in the Wall | South Africa’s Wild Coast Part 4

After an unforgettable time exploring the waterfalls of Pondoland, our journey continued towards Coffee Bay. The road had one more story to tell before we arrived — including being overtaken by a Hilux carrying a cow in its trailer, a sight that perfectly captures the character and charm of rural South Africa. Not long afterwards, we experienced a minor breakdown that briefly interrupted our journey. Thankfully, after a bit of patience and teamwork, we were back on the road and eventually reached our destination. We checked in at Coram Deo, our home for the next part of the adventure, before setting out to explore everything that makes Coffee Bay so special. One of the highlights was kayaking along the mouth of the Mthatha River, where we witnessed local fishermen catching enormous freshwater prawns. Intrigued by the day’s catch, we decided to buy some ourselves to enjoy later for dinner. No visit to Coffee Bay would be complete without a trip to the iconic Hole in the Wall. Standing before this remarkable natural formation, shaped over centuries by the power of the ocean, was the perfect reminder of why the Wild Coast continues to captivate all who visit. As the day drew to a close, we gathered for one final supper together as a team. It was a special evening filled with laughter, stories, and reflection, made even more meaningful by the knowledge that our friends would be leaving the following day. While every adventure eventually comes to an end, the memories and friendships created along the way will last a lifetime.
