RS009 Korg X5DR: Small Box Big Sound

The KORGs X5DR really isn‘t the most stunning of machines, and from it‘s looks, you could easily mistake it for a bog standard GM box (Well technically it also is one of course). Hidden beneath its unassuming shell, it features KORGs acclaimed Ai2 Synthesis and turns out not to be a simple preset box, but a fully fledged and fully programmable synthesizer with onboard effects and drum kits. Of course programming this tiny box can be quite a challenge and so I was very happy to discover some patches that where created by German producer and sound designer JayB, that really make the X5Dr sing. Add into the mix that the X5DR is a fairly common and very inexpensive (well below 100€ in 2020) synth, it’s a perfect pick for this channel. This only left me with one question: How do you do a visually interesting video about a boring looking synth? As it turns out, there are great free visuals on Youtube for creators and so I only had to follow the template set by Elvis Crespo in his legendary Suavemente Video: Use ALL the effects!
