Money, The Individual, The Nation-State

There are three ideas holding the modern world together: money, the individual, and the nation-state. In this episode, I argue that none of them are natural facts of reality. They are imagined structures, taught so early and so thoroughly that they feel as obvious as gravity. This is a video about banking, poverty, scarcity, the invention of the individual, the political function of school, the psychological architecture of the nation-state, and the deeper religious revolution that made all three possible. It is also a video about alchemy — not as failed medieval pseudoscience, but as the successful conversion of abstraction into social reality. If modern civilization is built on imagination, then imagination is not just the source of the prison. It is also the only way out. #Philosophy #PoliticalPhilosophy #Money #NationState #Individualism #Alchemy #CivilizationalEssay #LongformEssay #Modernity #Schooling #Scarcity #Poverty #Monotheism #Psychology #Geopolitics
