From time to time there appear great souls, who live in full realization of their true Divine nature. Having transcended the bonds of Karma, they have no need to subject themselves to the humiliations of being in the human form. But yet, they descend down and walk amongst us, so that we are awakened to our true potential. Such souls are known as avataras, which literally means “Divinity descended into flesh”. When we, after having endured countless lifetimes of suffering, finally decide to turn towards God alone, an avatara beckons to us and says “come follow me.” Accepting this divine summons is both the beginning of the path to, and all that is necessary for, the soul’s freedom.
