On July 14, 2016, a T-34 tank was raised from the bottom of the Don River. Seventy-four years underwater. Experts immediately identified it as a unique piece: it is the only fully preserved tank of the exact factory configuration produced by the Stalingrad Tractor Plant until August 1942. After that date, the plant ceased to exist—it was destroyed in the Battle of Stalingrad. Shells in the ammunition rack and the crew's personal belongings were found inside. This is not the only such case. This video features three recovery attempts. Three different tanks, three different bodies of water, three stories, each documented and verifiable. One of them was raised with German crosses on its armor—even though it was Soviet. The second had lain at the bottom the longest—and the engine was restarted without replacing any parts.
