Retire In Cambodia a Good Idea? I decided to live in Cambodia a couple year ago. Being a Cambodia expat was the best decision I ever made. I started in Siem Reap for just over a year and am now currently living in Phnom Penh. However, my 1 year lease in Phnom Penh is almost up and so I decided to take the family on a vacation to Kampot to see if I would like living there. Should I retire in Kampot? Living in Kampot would be different than living in Phnom Penh and living in Siem Reap as an expat. So let me show you around Kampot on Day 2 of my family vacation to Kampot. We start out leaving the hotel and retreat and experiencing the beautiful surrounding nature and mountain views. Then we end up at the main city centre where we have coffee, eat at a local popular restaurant and drive to a street market in Kampot with fresh food. After shopping at the local wet market in Kampot we go back and cook delicious Khmer food at the hotel in Kampot. Living in Cambodia has been a blessing and being able to travel around Cambodia has been amazing. Now I ask myself where should I retire in Cambodia after living in both Siem Reap and Phnom Penh.
