Elaine Thompson-Herah of Elite Performance Opens Season with 200m Victory at Velocity Fest 18 The crowd at the National Stadium got exactly what they came for as the "Double-Double" Olympic Champion Elaine Thompson-Herah of Elite Performance Track Club Jamaica made her highly anticipated season debut in the 200m! Competing in the second section with a legal +1.4 m/s wind, Elaine showed her trademark curve-running prowess and transition speed to stop the clock in a solid 22.61s. The battle for the podium was intense across multiple timed finals. Kerrica Hill of MVP Track & Field Club was the fastest in the third section (+0.5 m/s), clocking a massive 22.80s to secure 2nd place overall, while junior standout Alana Reid won her section in 22.83s (+2.7 m/s) to take 3rd. However, the event was marred by a worrying moment in the second heat. Serena Cole, who recently made the move to Swept Track Club Jamaica after leaving MVP, unfortunately pulled up and fell to the track approximately 60 meters into her race. She required immediate medical attention on the scene. We are all sending our best wishes to Serena and hoping the injury is not as serious as it looked.
