Centurion Arms 14.5” RECCE Barrel (30-Shot Groups, Inspection, & Borescope)

  / prestonmooreyoutube   [email protected] In this video, I take a detailed look at a 14.5” RECCE barrel from Centurion Arms, covering everything from initial inspection and borescope footage to warranty interaction and live-fire accuracy testing. This barrel was provided by Banshee Defense, so a big thank you to them for making this test possible. As always, the goal of this video is to document what the barrel looks like as received, how it measures, and how it actually performs on the range. What’s covered in this video: • Full bench inspection and measurements • Weight, contour, gas port size, and journal dimensions • Throat erosion, chamber checks, and headspace gauging • Extensive borescope footage of the chamber, throat, rifling, gas port, and crown • Noted bore and crown irregularities as received • Warranty interaction with Centurion Arms and post-service inspection • Before-and-after shooting results following crown correction • 30-shot groups at 100 yards • Velocity data • A-ZED (A-Zone Equivalent Distance) scoring for practical accuracy context • Leaderboard comparisons against other barrels tested on the channel Shooting & Test Methodology All groups in this video are 30-shot groups fired consecutively, which better represents real-world use than small sample groups. This approach introduces heat and provides a more meaningful data set for evaluating consistency. Test details: • Distance: 100 yards • No muzzle device installed • Groups measured using Ballistic-X • Velocity recorded with a Garmin Zero C1 Pro • Rifle stability monitored with Mantis X10 Elite and SG Pulse • Cooldown between groups using a chamber chiller and forced air Ammunition Tested • Federal Gold Medal 77gr SMK (before and after crown correction) • IMI Razor Core 77gr • PMC X-Tac 62gr M855 While this barrel is advertised as being optimized for MK262, I did not have that ammunition available at the time of testing. The loads used here were chosen to provide realistic comparisons against other barrels already tested on the channel. As always this video is simply a documented look at one specific barrel, tested under the same process I use for everything else on the channel.
