Phoenix Spent 7 Hours on This Ledge… Then She Finally Made the Leap: Smith Rock Eagles

Phoenix makes the leap! After accidentally fledging from the Smith Rock Eagles nest on July 2nd, this young bald eagle continued her incredible journey toward independence. In this video, we follow Phoenix as she takes her first true flight, lands high on the cliff ledge, and faces the biggest challenge yet—making her way back home to the nest. After spending more than 7 hours on the high ledge, Phoenix finally gathers the courage to make the flight back toward the nest tree. With the wind picking up and her parents Skye and Hunter nearby, we witness an unforgettable moment in this young eagle’s life. Phoenix’s parents have been preparing her for this moment by watching her practice her wing exercises in the nest over the last week. These wingercising sessions helped strengthen her wings and build the skills she needed for her first flights. Now, Skye and Hunter begin encouraging Phoenix’s independence by allowing her to make the journey and learn the skills she will need as a wild bald eagle. This video captures a special milestone in Phoenix’s life: her first flight home, her return to the Smith Rock Eagles nest, and the beginning of her journey as a young fledgling eagle.
