What sounds like a teenage outburst of rage has a serious background: Adherents of so-called antinatalism see more suffering than joy in life. Climate activists calculate how much a child worsens its parents' ecological footprint and how much CO2 a person emits over the course of their lifetime. Educators criticize that children have to fulfill their parents' unfulfilled wishes and are increasingly becoming lifestyle gadgets. Bavarian teacher and author Verena Brunschweiger is causing a stir with her statement that she opposes having children for feminist reasons.
