The Holy Trinity Alexander-Svirsky Monastery is a monastery for men in the Tikhvin Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, located in the village of Staraya Sloboda, Lodeynoye Pole District, Leningrad Region, on the shore of Lake Roshchinskoye. History: founded by Saint Alexander Svirsky at the end of the 15th century in the sparsely populated forested Olonetsky region among the settlements of pagan peoples - Karelians, Vepsians, Chud. Even during the founder's lifetime, the monastery was formed as two interconnected, but independently located complexes (departments): Trinity with fraternal cells and Transfiguration - next to the cemetery. Some attractions: Trinity complex: the Intercession Church of the 16th century with a refectory chamber, a three-tent belfry and the Trinity Cathedral of the late 17th century, with vaults covered with paintings. The Transfiguration Complex: a chapel at the site of the Trinity's appearance to Alexander Svirsky, the Transfiguration Cathedral with the relics of Alexander Svirsky and a Byzantine-style bell tower. The main shrine: the relics of the monastery's founder, which left the temple only once - during the plundering of the monastery by the Bolsheviks. Several other shrines are the sites of the appearance of the Holy Trinity and the Holy Mother of God, frescoes, icons, several holy springs of drinking water and a copy of the Shroud of Turin.
