Now by itself there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, you are watching the second channel of a guy who has made it his career to rant about financial statistics and broken business models on the internet so… we’re all nerds here… and as such, it's also safe to say that we enjoy some variety of science fiction and fantasy… no… the problem is, this group of nerds over here, seems to ALSO enjoy these genres… while at the same time getting absolutely everything wrong about them. They watch Gattaca while funding designer baby startups, They read Snowcrash and The Culture, before turning around and launching the metaverse and Neuralink. They see bladerunner and cyberpunk; and decide that this is (at the very least) a desirable aesthetic. “Her” and AI girlfriends. Elysium; selective space colonies, And then of course there is basically everything written by Asimov, 2001 a space odyssey, The Machines of the Matrix, the Butlerian Jihad of dune, the Cybernetic Revolt of 40k, Skynet from Terminator, Ultron, AVA, AM, the Red Queen and most most terrifying of all’... Auto from Wall-e… all stories and characters, trying to warn us about the dangers of giving too much control to technology we don’t fully understand… and well… you can see that’s clearly been taken to heart… Now if all of that wasn’t on the nose enough, there are people like Peter Thiel who have publicly spoken about how much he loves the story and lessons from The Lord of the Rings… but still decided to call his company… Palantir… Or well yeah even YouTubes darling watching Squid Game and deciding that the lesson this show was trying to communicate was that; poor people competing for life changing money is good entertainment… with… as far as I can tell… not a lot of Irony… So for all of the adoration they have for these cautionary genres of media… Why do they never learn from them?
