CNC Mill-Turning "Z" Height Solution
Hey guys, This is my first upload about using your CNC Mill as a CNC Lathe. There are already some great videos out there on the subject but I wanted to add on a little trick that I thought of to help expedite the process of setting up stock in the spindle and touching off just a single “Z” height that will work for all of your different work offsets. This works well using Fusion 360 CAM and Tormach’s Pathpilot. I suspect it would work with other software/controller solutions as well. Many thanks to Jason Hughes • Video as well as Threadexpress • CNC Mill Turning , Dragonwrath Innovations • Turning with a CNC Mill - Multiple Lathe t... , and JohnGrimsmo • Knifemaking Tuesdays Week 48 - Vertical Lathe for their excellent videos on mill-turning. I’ve only had my mill for a couple of months so please excuse me when I repeatedly speak of moving in thousandths when I mean to say one-hundred thousandths or whatever nomenclature I happen to be abusing. I think I get it right at least a few times! Cheers, Erik
