Fionnuala Dunleavy and Julie Jamieson: Mapping access to community food support

Fionnuala Dunleavy and Julie Jamieson from ReachOut Healthy Living Centre discuss their work to map access to community food support in North Belfast. Julie and Fionnuala explain how ReachOut, a healthy living centre based in North Belfast, works to translate high-level policy into practical community-based initiatives that address health inequalities. Through Safefood’s Community Food Initiatives programme, ReachOut has delivered food programmes for children, families and socially isolated adults, supporting people to build skills, prepare meals and access local food support. The presentation explores the development of an interactive food assets map for North Belfast. They share findings from the first phase of the project, including interviews with community food support organisations, information on referral pathways, local eligibility criteria, online apps and social media use. #foodpoverty #CommunityFood #FoodSystems #NorthBelfast #FoodAccess #CommunityFoodInitiatives #HealthInequalities _____ Tackling Food Poverty on the Island of Ireland This presentation was part of the All-Island Food Poverty Network event exploring how systems approaches can help address food poverty at national, regional, local and community levels.
