How Does Expansion Work? (MARPE + More)

MARPE, FME, and other devices have become one of the biggest subjects of discussion in this community. But how do they really work? Who benefits from it? Is it worth it? In this video, I answer all of these questions, and more. I start off by breaking down the anatomy of the skull as it relates to expansion. I talk about the maxilla, the sutures, and more. Then I move on to the scans you need - The CBCT and the lateral cephalogram. That’s followed by the pros/cons of expansion as a whole, and then how the expansion ecosystem works. I explain, in depth, how RPE, SARPE, MARPE, and lefort/jaw surgery all work to expand the palate. [YouTube lets you play this video in 2X speed! I wanted to talk slow since these topics might be new to some people, but feel free to speed it up if you'd like.] This is the first video of many regarding craniofacial biohacking and looksmaxxing. I’ll be uploading monthly to cover more topics like double jaw surgery, protraction devices, the FME itself, how myofunctional therapy can benefit you, and more. If you have another topic you’d like to see me talk about, comment it below! I’m open to suggestions. Ignore my lisp in the video haha, it's from the FME Here’s some of the resources I mentioned in this video. If you’d like direct links to any of the studies, or if I missed anything, let me know in the comments and I’ll drop it to you.    / @jawhacks      / @airwayortho      / @getexpanded   https://www.getexpanded.org/ Disclaimer: This video is for educational and entertainment purposes only and should not be taken as medical advice.
