#SIR Day-3: MBT Raises Serious Concerns Over Electoral Roll Revision in Hyderabad Parliamentary Constituency Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) Spokesman Amjed Ullah Khan has expressed serious concern over the manner in which the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is being conducted in the Hyderabad Parliamentary Constituency. Mr. Khan stated that #Day-2 of the SIR exercise was severely affected as a majority of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) reportedly did not report for field duty due to 10th Moharrum observances. On #Day-3, MBT received numerous complaints from various parts of the constituency regarding alleged violations of Election Commission guidelines. According to complaints received by MBT, the BLO's assigned for Polling Stations No. 34, 35, 36, 37 & 44 under Malakpet Assembly Constituency was allegedly found sitting inside the residence of an AIMIM workers and asking voters to visit the location for SIR-related work instead of conducting mandatory door-to-door verification. A serious incident was also reported from the area where Mr. Mohd Saadullah Khan, a social worker, objected to the alleged irregularities and questioned the process. It is alleged that he was verbally abused and physically attacked by AIMIM workers. A written complaint regarding the incident has been submitted to Chaderghat Police Station seeking legal action against the accused persons. MBT has further alleged that in the Sarfekhas Phaltan area, a BLO reportedly handed over SIR enumeration forms to an AIMIM Booth Level Agent (BLA) and was not available in the field. Residents allegedly complained that whenever they contacted the BLO, they were instructed to collect the forms from the AIMIM BLA instead of receiving them directly from election officials. Mr. Amjed Ullah Khan questioned how electoral work could be delegated to political party workers and demanded an immediate inquiry into the allegations. He stated that the Election Commission's guidelines clearly require BLOs to personally visit every household and carry out voter verification in a transparent and impartial manner. Mr. Khan recalled that during a recent meeting with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Telangana, and the District Election Officer (DEO), Hyderabad, a delegation of MBT had requested police protection for Booth Level Officers to enable them to discharge their duties independently and without political interference. However, the request was not accepted. Expressing concern over the growing number of complaints, Mr. Khan appealed to the Chief Election Commissioner of India to immediately direct the Chief Electoral Officer, Telangana, District Election Officer, Hyderabad, and Commissioner, GHMC to ensure that all BLOs conduct door-to-door verification as mandated by the Election Commission of India. He further demanded strict disciplinary and criminal action against any BLO found handing over official SIR forms to political party workers, operating from political party offices or residences, or directing citizens to approach political party leaders for electoral roll revision work.
