Buying a houseboat can be a lot of fun...but the houseboat buying process can also be very overwhelming, especially if you are buying a boat for the first time and are thinking about living on a houseboat. We know because we’ve just been through it! This was our first time buying a houseboat to live on as a family of three. In this week's Deep Houseboat Life video, we’re going to share three tips that we learned from the houseboat buying process that helped us find and buy the right boat for us. We’ll also share why we chose a houseboat to live aboard part time when there are so many boat options. We spent years cruising the floor at our local boat show in Atlanta, researching used boats on boat broker websites like BoatTrader.com and Boats.com, scoured Craigslist, and blazed through boat buying guides and boat buying tips. We asked ourselves questions...a lot of questions! What kind of boat is right for our family? Do we have the time and resources for a project boat? How far is too far to transport a houseboat? What's it like buying your first boat? When is the best time to go boat shopping? Should we buy directly from the seller? Should we work with a houseboat broker? Is houseboat life even right for us?
