Cape Music - Where it came from and where it's going...🎼🎵🎶
Our most grateful thanks to the people who made this video possible… Hilton Schilder (Renowned Jazz musician) Hilton was born in Lotus River and grew up in a musical family. He was given his first instrument, a drum, at the age of three. He began playing at a young age in the Kaapse Klopse bands. He has played internationally, and his music was banned in South Africa during apartheid. He presently plays in The Hilton Schilder Goema Club, which encourages the youth to keep the music alive. / thehsgoemaclub https://www.facebook.com/share/g/19Q4... Jai Reddy (Musician & Teacher) Jai, grew up in a home where they listened to both classical Indian & Western music, which caused him to gravitate towards Jazz music. During the group areas act in 1966, they were forced to relocate to the Cape Flats, which had a profound influence on his music today. He started Afrofest SA and has organised & run National and International music events. He has been passionately involved in youth upliftment and education. Carlo Fabe (Drummer & Teacher) Carlo fell in love with drums when he heard them live for the first time, in a church. Today he plays both Nationally and Internationally, and also teaches drumming with a passion at the Institute for Music & Indigenous Arts Development. He is currently working on his sole recording & performing with his band, CF Groove Express.
