View from the Only Deck: BYD ADL Enviro200EV EA54 on Athlone Route A2 - Weds. 29/4/26.

NTA/Bus Éireann (Athlone Depot) BYD D9UR Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 (Electric) EV54 (241-SO-920) as recorded on Athlone Route A2 eastbound between Northgate Street and Fair Green via Golden Island on Wednesday evening, 29th April 2026. Athlone's town services were converted to electric operation in early 2023 with EA1 to EA11 assigned to the town's depot to cover Routes A1 and A2. From late 2024, EA46 to EA55 have also been deployed from the depot although these buses are Sligo-registered and intended for use in that town once electrification works are complete. Routes A1 and A2 have common western and eastern termini with route variations in between. The eastern leg of Route A2 is extremely circuitous. From a Limerick perspective, the service in Athlone is slower, quieter and obviously uses much smaller buses although both places are in the Western Region.
