Banjir Dua Sungai Rendam Puluhan Rumah di Tanggamus

WONOSOBO (August 28, 2025) – Dozens of homes in Wonosobo District, Tanggamus, were inundated by floodwaters in the Way Liwok and Way Ngarip Rivers after heavy rains lasted for four hours in the early hours of Thursday, August 28, 2025. The overflowing waters paralyzed residents' activities, forcing some to evacuate. Heavy rains had been pounding the Wonosobo area since morning, causing flooding. The overflowing Way Liwok and Way Ngarip Rivers inundated residential areas in Soponyono and Way Liwok Villages. Floodwaters reached depths ranging from half a meter to one meter. The floodwaters swept away household furniture and valuables. Residents evacuated children to safety and salvaged their belongings. The floodwaters also inundated the Trans-Sumatra Highway, hampering traffic. The overflowing river currents submerged dozens of hectares of newly planted rice fields. Wonosobo District was not the only area affected by the flooding. Dozens of homes in Sukajadi Hamlet, Belu Village, West Kotaagung District, were also affected by the overflowing Way Belu River. This river has recently been normalized. The Head of the Tanggamus National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Irvan Wahyudi, and the Head of the Wonosobo District, Edi Fahrurrozi, inspected the flood-affected villages. The BPBD (National Disaster Management Agency) had built embankments in Soponyono and Ngarip, but they broke again. Some of the embankments are still wet and are eroding further because the work is not yet complete. The rapid response team was deployed again to repair the embankments and vulnerable areas. The Subdistrict Head, Edi Fahrurrozi, stated that the flooding was triggered by heavy rain, especially in the Sampang Turus area, which caused the Way Liwok River to overflow and breach the embankment.
