Meshmixer - Aligner Project
I have been wondering for a long time how Meshmixer can be used intelligently and efficiently for clear aligners. (Spoiler - it can't). So I sat down and worked through a few ideas. There are a few challenges and limitations. First, you have to manually segment every tooth you are working on. Second, you have to align the teeth in sequence, meaning you can't start with the end and work backwards, or towards the final position. And third, when your object browser gets big enough, meshmixer stops letting you rename elements, which makes it difficult to keep aligners organized. It should go without saying, that the only thing worse than watching this video is actually doing a big aligner case with Meshmixer. There are better solutions out there. But if you feel like you can pick up some ideas or if you were curious about a possible workflow, here it is.
