The Helical Antenna

#270 In this video I look at the main characteristics of helical antennas. These are some of the simples circularly polarized antennas that can easily be built by amateurs and are quite commonly used over a wide frequency range. I analyze the main constructive characteristics of such antennas and then perform a few experiments with a couple practical devices. Correction: at 3:00 the wavelength is c/f rather than f/c Antenna series: Ground Plane -    • The Ground-Plane Antenna   Sleeve Dipole -    • The Sleeve Dipole Antenna   Polarization -    • Analyzing Antenna Polarization   Helical Antenna -    • The Helical Antenna   Links and further reading: https://archive.org/details/dli.ernet... https://3g-aerial.biz/en/online-calcu... https://www.microwaves101.com/encyclo... https://jcoppens.com/ant/helix/calc.e...
