DIESEL vs HYBRID - Which is more economical in real world conditions?
Here we test two second hand cars against each other, a 10 year old hybrid and a 7 year old diesel, to see which gives more miles per gallon, and which is quicker in acceleration, in real world driving conditions. The cost per litre for the Shell garage on the motorway test was £1.589 for petrol and £1.759 for diesel, for the city test using the Esso garage it was £1.599 for petrol and £1.855 for diesel. Thanks to Colin for donating the hybrid Auris and to Michael for donating the diesel Astra.
