How do you imagine the life of a rural pensioner? Evenings in front of the TV and a small vegetable garden? Vladimir Shlyakhtun from the village of Stayki near Baranovichi is 74 years old. For 48 of those years, he worked at a school – he was a teacher and director. Then it closed. But in retirement, Vladimir Vladimirovich was bored, and then they offered to rent a local neglected lake, clean it up and organize paid fishing there. “I knew almost nothing about fishing,” the man admits, showing books on fishing and fish farming. Now he is an individual entrepreneur and says that his pension is enough for bread and butter, and he earns his own money. We visited Staiki and found out how hard it is to get up at 5 a.m. every day and go to work at 74, how much it costs to fish "from dawn to dusk," and how expensive it is to rent a lake.
