Patient Story: Tara Robinson - "I died and went to heaven" EP 15
Tara Robinson was a gym going, active, 40 year-old mother of two and school counsellor with none of the usual risk factors for cardiovascular disease. When she started having "episodes" in April 2014, she had no suspicion that it could be heart-related. In fact, Tara was having the first of three heart attacks in as many days, the last of which left her clinically dead. Miraculously, the doctors and nurses were able to revive her so that she is able to tell her story to The Pioneering Patient Podcast today. The path to recovery was hard, with her husband, Fredrick being her rock and guide. Together, they chose to fill what they called a gap in the patient environment. They formed Black Heart Association to help the US black community - which faces a 57% higher risk of cardiovascular disease than other races. They aim to not only raise awareness but also save lives through direct interactions with the community. Their CARDI V bus provides mobile health screenings in Dallas, Houston and surrounding areas. Many people are being referred for life-saving treatment as a result of the diagnoses they are receiving from the CARDI V screenings. You can learn more about Tara's remarkable story and her strong views on the healthcare environment, including her belief that constant missed and misdiagnoses can be considered equivalent to "murder". Thanks must go for their partnership on this podcast to Global Heart Hub, the international alliance for those living with and affected by cardiovascular disease. __________ Ready to transform how your patients see healthcare?
