This event is part of the National Science and Technology Week (SNCT) — a national initiative that mobilizes local actions throughout Brazil to promote dialogue between science, technology, and society — and is part of the Bahia Academy of Sciences' program. About the speaker – Zelinda Leão Zelinda Margarida de Andrade Nery Leão is Professor Emerita at the Institute of Geosciences of UFBA and a leading figure in the field of marine geology and coral reef ecology. She pioneered the use of scientific diving to investigate Brazilian reefs, established monitoring programs for marine benthic communities, and contributed to understanding the effects of global changes on coastal ecosystems. In 2024, Zelinda Leão was awarded the Senior Inspirational Scientist prize for her legacy and influence in the field of ocean science.
