Chega De Saudade (No More Blues) - Real Book Journey #58

Welcome to Real Book #58! This is my tenor saxophone cover of "Chega de Saudade", the landmark Brazilian classic composed by Antônio Carlos Jobim with lyrics by Vinícius de Moraes. Often translated as "No More Blues," this song is widely regarded as the piece that launched the bossa nova movement and forever changed the sound of Brazilian music. Originally recorded by João Gilberto in 1958, Chega de Saudade introduced the world to the relaxed rhythms, sophisticated harmonies, and understated style that would soon inspire jazz musicians across the globe. Jobim's music has since become a cornerstone of the jazz repertoire, and this tune remains one of the most beloved Brazilian standards ever written. For this performance, I arranged the melody for tenor saxophone over a backing track, aiming to capture the tune's lyrical beauty while adding my own improvisational voice. If you enjoy jazz standards, saxophone covers, and music from The Real Book, I'd love to have you along for the journey.
