ACOR held an inspiring lecture, “Urban and Economic Activities in the Hinterland of Petra” by H.E. Dr. Fawzi Abudanah on September 29th, 2025. The lecture was a summary of the archaeological evidence the speaker had collected from the hinterland of Petra since 2003. The fieldwork projects, which he directed or co-directed, revealed important information regarding urban and economic activities. The volume and distribution of the latter are very significant and reflect a long-term urbanisation. The lecture covered the following subjects: road networks, water installations, wine presses, settlements, and tombs.
