"Canyon de Chelly National Monument" Jeep Tour - U.S. Hwy. 191 a road less traveled
Chinle is in the geographic heart of the Navajo Nation and serves as a gateway community for Canyon de Chelly National Monument. The Monument was established in 1931 primarily to preserve the archaeological sites and record of human history. There are two ways you can explore Canyon de Chelly: (1) led by a Navajo guide into the Canyon and (2) on your own via an Auto Tour along the North and South Rim of the Canyon. We did both, but this video is about our Navajo-led tour deep into the Canyon. Although the video is edited, most of the audio, spoken by our Navajo guide, is not.
