Riaguas de San Bartolomé (Segovia)

Riaguas de San Bartolomé is a municipality in the province of Segovia in the Autonomous Community of Castile and León. The uninhabited Briongos is located within its municipal area. The Riaguas River flows along the town's banks. It is located in the Community of Villa y Tierra de Maderuelo. In 2024, it had 27 registered inhabitants. Riaguas de San Bartolomé was known in the 12th century as the Daguas River. This name evolved until the 16th century, when it began to be called Riaguas. In the 19th century, the surname San Bartolomé was added in honor of its patron saint. It has made headlines in the media several times. For example, during the tree replanting process, "Riaguas Verde." The documentary "Águeda," whose central theme was the women of Riaguas, as part of the Pact against Gender Violence and the Ministry of Equality.
