La imputación más grave de la democracia

The indictment of former Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero is the most serious in Spain's democratic history. Previously, ministers, regional presidents, councilors, and even an Infanta and a son-in-law of the King have faced criminal charges. But never before in this half-century of freedoms has a head of government, the second-in-command in our institutional hierarchy, been so vilified as Rodríguez Zapatero. And this occurred precisely in a case, that of Plus Ultra, revealed at the time by Vozpópuli. The very wording used in his ruling by Judge José Luis Calama, a judge with proven ideological independence and a well-earned reputation for integrity, is devastating for the former Prime Minister, for the current government of Pedro Sánchez (Zapatero is, after all, the de facto president), and for the reputation of the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party).
