MACARENA (Dancers Behind Bars)

BJMP ANNIVERSARY DANCE PERFORMANCE 🪇🪘🕺🏻 │ On July 25, 2024, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) celebrates its 33rd anniversary. To mark this occasion, our Dancers Behind Bars are diligently preparing a performance set to the infectious rhythm of ‘Macarena.’ This captivating display serves as a testament to the Bureau’s unwavering commitment to modern penology—a commitment that transcends punitive measures and embraces rehabilitation. Through choreography, these dancers transform their confinement into a stage for hope and grace. ----- WHAT IS THE 'HIGAYON 2.0' CAMPAIGN? A blend of online and offline initiatives, the 'Higayon 2.0' campaign aims to raise awareness on the dynamic rehabilitation and development programs of Iligan City Jail-Male Dormitory for its clients with the end view of galvanizing support for these endeavors. The campaign advocates for rehabilitation over punishment, underscoring the pivotal role of support systems in the process of societal reintegration of those who served time behind bars. Derived from the Cebuano term meaning ‘chance,’ 'higayon' encapsulates the essence of the campaign's mission. #BehindTheBars #ArtisticReintegration #secondchance #breakingthechainsofsocialshame #higayon2.0 #StrongerTogether #PartnersForChange #AlagangmaypusoSerbisyongmayIntegridad #changinglivesbuildingasafernation [Every PDL who participated in the 'Higayon 2.0' campaign formally consented to the publication of the advocacy materials, which included this photo, with their faces unobscured.]
