BOTIJA QEPIY – An ancestral tradition of the Central Andes of Peru In the carnivals of the Locroja district, Churcampa province, Huancavelica region, a unique custom is preserved: carrying a clay pot filled with chicha de jora (fermented corn beverage) or molle (fermented molle beverage) on one's back, to the rhythm of quena (Andean flute) music, songs, and dances. The most beautiful women of the town accompany the porter, pulling him with a rope while throwing flower petals, in a festive gesture that symbolizes joy and community unity.
