Inside John Cockerill’s 3105 Turret and FNSS partnership (Exclusive Interview)
Frank Jansens, General Manager of Weapon Systems at John Cockerill Defense, introduced the company’s Cockerill 3105 turret in an interview with Defensehere.com during LAAD 2025 in Brazil. The system is a lightweight, two-person turret featuring a NATO-standard 105mm gun, designed for integration on both tracked and wheeled armored vehicles. A key feature of the Cockerill 3105 is its 42-degree gun elevation, enabling both direct and indirect fire—including anti-drone engagement with canister ammunition. Jansens noted that this capability addresses the growing importance of counter-drone operations in modern conflicts. The turret has already been qualified and adopted by international users, distinguishing it from mock-up systems shown by some competitors. Its armored aluminum construction ensures lower weight without compromising protection, making it suitable for light and medium platforms. Jansens also emphasized the company’s collaboration with Turkish manufacturer FNSS. The turret has been integrated on FNSS’s Kaplan tracked vehicle, and this configuration has been procured by a Far Eastern country, demonstrating its combat readiness and operational success.
