Birding Karoo National Park

Birding Karoo National Park. Searching for arid country birds. I spent 3 nights at Karoo National Park in mid-September 2025 exploring it's potential as a birding destination. My vision for the future of my channel is to make it a resource for birders investigating South Africa, and especially the Western Cape, as a birding destination. Karoo National Park has a bird list with over 230 species and during my 2 days I managed to find 87 of them. The one day was blowing a gale and was not suitable for birding. In this video you can see some of the special arid bird species I found which I was more than satisfied with. There is plenty of wildlife, including lion and rhino, to act as diversions. This is a Sanparks run facility and compliments to the management and staff, who maintain it beautifully. The campsite is one of my favourites and there are also chalets available, along with a restaurant and a general supplies shop. Karoo National Park is a highly recommended destination for birders looking for South African endemic birds.
