However, the road to reach the New Mini was paved in pettiness and chicanery between the Rover Group and its parent company BMW, with the German and British management and design teams facing off against one another at every turn, leading to a fragmented development period of the New Mini that, on multiple occasions, almost led to the entire project not going ahead at all.
