ALCO S2's. What great sounds from those 539T. 4/11/2000
Sit back and relax for the next 11 minutes or so, and you will be treated to the sight and sounds of some great sounding ALCO S-2's. They are powered by Alco's inline 6 cylinder 539T. We had gained permission from Boise Cascade, and from the MD&W to film on their property, and was also treated a tour of the shop where they kept the old Alco's in top notch condition. The MD&W usually rotated the the four operating locomotives daily, with most days two being in service. The day before we arrived there, the #16 hit the ground and bent up the pilot at bit, and was getting some welding and cutting down to repair the damage. ____________________________________________________ Thanks for watching, and hope you enjoyed it.
