Or in what situations you can use blocks. This is what we are going to tell you. Both the items i.e. bricks and blocks are easily available in the market. This often happens that after seeing the use of blocks in multi-story buildings i.e. buildings like plazas, some people get this misconception that the walls of such a large plaza are being made of blocks. So what can be wrong with building a small house with these blocks? While its cost is also less than bricks. Let's clear this misconception of yours. See, there are two types of any wall. One is a Load Bearing Wall, as the name implies while the other type is Non-Load Bearing Wall, because no extra weight is coming on it. Rather, it only has its Self-Weight. Compressive Strength Brick has very good compressive strength. Due to this reason, it can bear more weight While the locally found block does not have much strength as compared to the brick. In terms of thermal property brick is made of clay and has less air voids Therefore, it is more heat resistant whereas cement is used in the manufacture of block and owing to more air voids it is also porous. It has some resistance to heat but not as much as bricks. 3. From the point of view of sound proofing, brick has good sound proofing quality which does not carry the sound to the other room and this way your privacy is not affected whereas in the case of blocks a slightly louder than normal sound can also be heard in another room. 4. Mortar is used more on one side of the wall while plastering the brick wall because brick is much smaller in size than the block and this is because of its more joints while this is not the same in a block wall. If you look at the brick from the point of view of other qualities this difference is insignificant/ignorable. 5. Chiseling for sanitary fittings or Electrical wiring. In the walls made of bricks, the chiseling are applied with great sophistication Whereas in the walls made of blocks, roughness could be observed. In a Hollow block wall, even if the nail is slightly driven the entire nail goes into the wall. 6. A slight earthquake in brick masonry walls does not affect it while cracks appear in the walls of the blocks. 7. Due to high rainfall in the outer walls of the building, you will not face any particular problem in brick walls because good brick has less water absorption capacity whereas block is porous and penetration defective, it increases the chances of your building's interior paint deteriorating quickly. 8.
